If you’ve been to a neighborhood pachanga, imbibed lots of refajo, and danced bachata until dawn, you know that Colombians know how to party. Apparently, those lovable South American scamps also know how to throw down some sweet, orchestral maneuvers in the dark. Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, led by Colombian conductor Ricardo Jaramillo, comes to town this Saturday at 8 p.m. for a free concert at the Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall. The OFB will perform pieces from Mestizajes, its Latin Grammy-winning album. Guest artists will include Andrés Cabas, Andrés Cepeda, and Janio Coronado, because even though the orchestra already has 97 members, Colombians know that the more guests at a party, the merrier. Orchestra director María Claudia Parias Durán says we can expect to hear classical compositions by Mahler and Bruckner, as well as symphonic versions of popular contemporary Colombian music. “She Wolf,” anyone?
