After just 17 games, a 2-6-9 record, a defense with the most goals allowed in the USSF Division 2 pro league, and a six-game winless streak, our hometown soccer team, the Miami FC Blues, finally had enough of head coach Victor Pastora. Last month, the Blues shit-canned Pastora barely halfway through his first season and replaced him with former MLS Chicago Fire assistant coach Daryl Shore.

In ten seasons as an assistant in Chicago, Shore helped the staff lead the team to playoff appearances in every season except one. The Fire even finished second in the MLS Cup in 2000 and 2003. Now, maybe Shore can conjure some of that good karma to help Miami reach this season’s playoffs. But with only eight teams making the cut, the Miami FC is currently four points back of the final postseason spot. Shore’s tough quest to turn things around begins against the Puerto Rico Islanders this Saturday at Lockhart Stadium.
