Have to say "Very dissopointed" The best of the best issue is a joke!!! no decent stories no informotive matter just adverts I love the Miami Times and look forward to reading on a regular basis >>> But this weeks Best of the best is just crap ,Is this time of the year you all go on vacation ??? and just re hash old resturant write ups cause thats all this is a bunch of shit !!! how may refurant recomendations can one read ????

The Scarlet Letter - The South Beach staple moved back in 2008 to a Surfside storefront. The shop designs invites, save-the-dates, and thank-you cards and has a great selection of gifts. And Great news: They just opened a 2nd location back on South Beach @ 1629 Jefferson Avenue, Miami Beach next to the Vandyle Restaurant. Woo-Hoo!

Not sure why you voted Pimiento's the best Tapas in Miami...their food is less than mediocre and completely forgettable. I have tried it three times (tried to give the place the benefit of the doubt)and with three different groups of people and each time the verdict was the same; "nothing special or even mediocre...at best a last resort when traveling to the beach or the gables isn't doable..." The menu sounds better than what actually comes out of the kitchen, an example are the Batatas Bravas (the most basic and simple hot Tapa). We got some cubed and fried potatoes with what seemed like wing sauce on the side! They need to visit Casa Espana on Brd Rd. for a lesson... The music is way too loud for such a small locale. Instead of blaring techno and Shakira, they should have a guy on an acoustic guitar (sans speakers). If they cant afford the guitar player, invest in a good Spanish soundtrack and play it at a level that still allows folks to have a conversation without having to use sign language. I was in the sub shop next door one Friday night and the walls were shaking...not pleasant inside subway, even less pleasant inside the restaurant. Also, the value isn't there, you get very small portions for what you actually pay. One good note, they have a courteous staff and the wine selection is adequate.
