In the beginning, there was Jack, and Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves. And Jack boldly declared Let There Be House, and house music was born. So goes the Genesis-like mythos of house music, as expounded by talking head Chuck Roberts, and esteemed DJ-producer Doc Martin has been there for the long ride. As one of the major players of the early West Coast house scene, Martin cut his teeth in the clubs and warehouses of San Francisco in the late 80s, cultivating his own loose and eclectic live style while never straying far from the deep and soulful roots of the genre. After migrating to the East Coast, he cemented his reputation in New York City, holding various residencies at seminal hot spots such as the Roxy, Twilo, and Tunnel, and touring with the likes of Grace Jones, Deee-Lite, Moby, and Dubtribe Sound System. Meet Doc Martin this Friday at 10 p.m. at the Electric Pickle, where hell be joined by residents Will Renuart and Tomas of Aquabooty, as well as Miamis only brother-sister DJ duo, Baby Sean & Inbal.
