This D.C.-born indie rapper studied politics at Harvard before moving to Miami to start a record label. He worked on the Obama campaign, got fed up with politics, and now devotes his energy to his informed rhymes and his label, Square Biz. We went home from Sweatstock with his first mixtape, Phat Kid Tendencies, and have been patiently awaiting his second, Black Bobby's Negro Dialect, particularly for its single "Major Blazor," where he raps over Major Lazer's "Pon de Floor." You can score a Negro Dialect CD this Thursday at the Black Bobby Block Party at Sweat Records. The night begins at 8 p.m. with dubstepper MC JumanJi and ends with the hip-hop lyricism of Black Bobby and Saheed.
