People love stories about revenge. Just think: They even named a deep-fried sandwich after the definitive tale of vengeance, The Count of Monte Cristo. Award-winning playwright Michael McKeever is serving up his own dish of retribution with a brand-new provocative drama, Unreasonable Doubt, opening this Wednesday at Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre.

Running through June 6, the play follows Ty Bosworth, a man out for blood after the judicial system frees the guy who raped and murdered his 9-year-old daughter. Bosworth takes the law into his own hands by kidnapping the murderer’s attorney and putting him on trial in a tiny cabin in upstate New York. It might sound like A Time to Kill meets Misery, but don’t worry — we made sure Matthew McConaughey isn’t cast as a naked, bongo-playing lawyer.
