Hot Rod Blacktop

Whether you own a $135,000 Maserati GranTurismo S or a ’96 Ford Taurus that can be driven only downhill, your ride probably qualifies for this Friday’s Speedway T-n-T at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The only requirements are “street-legal cars and trucks with valid vehicle registration and driver’s license.” So, basically, if it moves and it’s not stolen, you’re good. Every Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight, a nonstop stream of solo drivers in ’69 Mustangs, souped-up Civics, and raging white Broncos drag-races down the one-eighth mile straightaway called Pit Road. Racers, though, take note: This is a street party, not a beach party — no tank tops, shorts, or sandals allowed. Other rules: No booze and no drugs. It’s a family event, people.
Fri., May 7, 6 p.m., 2010
