Truth, Still Inconvenient

"Global warming, my ass! What about our tomato crops!?" That's been the popular rhetoric backlash of Miamians who can't fathom how climate change is real. But just because some of Miami's darlings have been donning Ugg boots this winter doesn't necessarily mean we're out of the water just yet.

Environmentalist and 350.org founder Bill McKibben has plenty to say about the subject, and what's more, he's a celebrated author and directs the Middlebury College Fellowships in Environmental Journalism. He's so respected as the voice box against climate change that the folks at Books & Books asked him to speak this Wednesday. The timely talk is sure to attract everyone from hard-core granola munchers to organic pomegranate martini-sipping socialites.

The free lecture, which addresses just how screwed our planet is, will be followed by a Q&A with McKibben in case you're still not convinced. Interested parties can buy a copy of his new book, Eaarth, and get it signed by the eco-friendly man himself.
