The film is based on the first book in Swede Stieg Larssons Millennium Trilogy, which sold upwards of 22 million copies. The original Swedish title was Män som hatar kvinnor literally, Men Who Hate Women. Heres hoping this sets off a whole new wave of rape-revenge movies. In all likelihood, Hollywood will get its clammy hands on the story, and the remake will lose all riot-grrrl cred. (Unless they plan on arming Gabourey Sidibe with a machete that would be awesome.) Dragon Tattoo, the top-grossing film in Europe last year, screens at Tower Theatre this Wednesday.
