Harboring Surf Rockers

Old money, posh hotels, and high-end shops are the norm in the 25 mph, sleepy Village of Bal Harbour. It's the last place you'd think a so-hip-it-hurts music festival would take place. But the town will hold its inaugural Ten-in-One Music Festival at the One Bal Harbour Resort & Spa this Thursday.

There's so much indie cred packed into the lineup you'd swear you were in downtown Miami. The village has booked Pitchfork darlings Surfer Blood, along with Miami's ANR (Awesome New Republic) and out-of-towners Matthew Ian and Turbo Fruits. The weirdness doesn't stop there. Between sets, DJ Contra, who has toured with the likes of M.I.A. and Santigold, will spin alongside live musicians from the University of Miami Frost School of Music.

The event is free, but valet parking will set you back $15. Still, kudos to Bal Harbour for thinking outside the box. There are even rumors of vodka snow cones and photo booths.
