Baroque in Havana

If you've ever wondered whether Johann Sebastian Bach (not to be confused with the Skid Row singer of nearly the same name) would have felt at home strolling the streets of La Habana or sipping a cafecito Cubano at Calle Ocho's Versailles, wonder no longer. The answer is a resounding yes, if any credence can be given to Tiempo Libre's latest release, Bach in Havana.

The bandmates are masters of the Cuban sound. They're equally comfortable in flashes of Latin jazz as they are flaunting their strong suit, timba. They exhibit a command of those traditional rhythms so spectacular that it transports listeners to the Havana of better days.
