Local musician Jim Camacho has done a bit of everything — from fronting the almost-famous punk-ish rock band the Goods in the '90s to writing three musicals and contributing to Grammy-nominated soundtracks such as Tom Dowd & the Language of Music. (One of his songs was also used to score the 2006 Paris Hilton bomb Pledge This!)

Today he's recording and touring as a solo artist. Widely acclaimed for his songwriting skills and longevity on the local scene, Camacho has a solo sound that's oddly reminiscent of food — with syrupy vocals and vanilla-flavored rock. His latest album, Beachfront Defeat, was released last July and features the single "Is It Me." See the premiere of the "Is It Me" video, directed by Mark Moormann, at Camacho's video-release party this Friday, when the band will also play a full set.
