The odds of you going to Princeton to learn creative writing are pretty slim. So when the former director of Princeton's creative writing department comes to your local bookstore to talk about literary craft, consider it your 15-minute brush with an Ivy League education. And you won't have to flash your SAT score or hand over $49K in tuition. Most important, you won't have to take up residence in New Jersey.

This Friday, Korean-American novelist Chang-rae Lee will read from his book The Surrendered at Books & Books. His latest yarn follows members of a love triangle burned by the fallout from the Korean War.

In addition to molding new writers at Princeton, Lee was named in 1999 one of The New Yorker's 20 best novelists under the age of 40. He also received the 1995 Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award for his first novel, Native Speaker.
