It's no surprise when the folks at the World Erotic Art Museum unveil a new exhibition of nude art. What can be surprising, however, is who's nude. Take the museum's latest exhibition, "Golden Gals Gone Wild," a collection of images featuring the cast of TV's The Golden Girls in sexually suggestive poses, on display through April 30. The aged Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia are painted wearing S&M leather or nothing at all. And in some works, they're enraptured in lesbian love for each other.
On the TV show, Blanche Devereaux was certainly promiscuous, but this art exhibit makes her character look more puritanical than the naive Rose Nylund. "Golden Gals Gone Wild" toured the United States in 2007, and it was such a hit that WEAM's curator, Naomi Wilzig, has put it back on display. You gotta see it to believe it.
Mondays-Sundays. Starts: March 20. Continues through April 30, 2010
