His Majesty King Dave

Even if you’ve never met the man who built Churchill’s Pub, he’s pretty easy to spot. His name is Dave Daniels, and he’s that dapper 68-year-old gentleman with the great white grandfatherly beard. On a typical night, Mr. Daniels can be found sitting at the far end of the bar, sporting a pink dress shirt and sipping a glass of fine Chardonnay. And for more than 30 years, he has held court at his not-quite-a-pub in Little Haiti.

It didn’t all begin here, though. Before immigrating to the States in 1976 — and opening Churchill’s in 1979 — Daniels booked big Brit names (like Clapton) for ballrooms and music festivals in Newcastle, England. This Wednesday at 9 p.m., he and the entire Churchill’s family — including longtime acts Raja Khan and Juke — will celebrate Dave Daniels’s 50th anniversary in the music biz.
Wed., March 17, 7 p.m., 2010
