Right Here, Right Now

Are you itching to douche out the brain pan after a soul-withering workweek? The Miami Made Weekend is the remedy to leave that noggin feeling fresh and renewed. Cosponsored by the Arsht Center and the Miami Light Project, the event showcases über avant-garde South Florida talent with a trio of world premieres reminiscent of the glory days of a Weimar Republic cabaret. The three-day arts fest also boasts free play readings and performances of works in progress. This Friday at 7 p.m., "Here & Now" anchors the weekend with spanking-new works by Rudi Goblen, Juraj Kojs, and Jillian Mayer. Goblen's Fare Welling riffs on one soul's depression and morality through letters and conversations with people most influential in his life. Kojs ratchets up the bleeding-edge tension with Neraissance: Self-Powered Multimedia Art, an experimental score during which three performers power his opus on stationary bikes triggering electrical energy. Mayer is presenting Mrs. Ms., a multidisciplinary work parodying conventional musicals and stereotypes about marriage and romantic unions.
Fri., March 5, 7 p.m., 2010
