Pyramid Scheme

The Opium Group has the fever, and the only cure is consuming every South Beach nightclub space that comes up for lease. After opening two lounges next door to each other — Louis at the Gansevoort South and Wall at the W South Beach — the auspicious club conglomerate has its eye on controlling the entire Collins Park area. It's latest acquisition: Mokaï (235 23rd St., Miami Beach).

But if we were the feds and this was a hostile takeover, we would approve. The lounge fell out of favor with Miami's glitterati months before it closed. This was the place where we bumped into Dennis Haskins, AKA Mr. Belding, one drunken night, so it was a shame to see it deserted on a Saturday night.

The Opium Group is hell-bent on making it work this time, though, bringing in Overthrow — Alexis Mincolla and Sam Baum — to put on Pyramid Club Wednesday nights. It's a secret-society-meets-upscale-debauchery where models and hipsters party. Resident DJs Troy Kurtz, Tamara Sky, DiscoTech, and Señor Stereo are on the decks, making sure you have a soundtrack to get wasted to. There's no cover charge; just look the part or you'll have a hard time crossing the velvet ropes.
