How to Bareback

If you were alive in February 2007, you'll remember the brouhaha that broke out when Harry Potter got naked to have sex with a horse onstage at the Gielgud Theatre. Sure, it was all make-believe, something people in the biz call playacting. But if a bit of wizardry and simulated horse-screwing can turn cosmopolitan London into a madhouse, just imagine what it could do to Coral Gables.

This Friday, we'll find out when Peter Shaffer's Tony Award-winning play Equus debuts at New Theatre. It's basically the story of Alan Strang, a kid with a weird spiritual-sexual horse obsession, and psychiatrist Martin Dysart, who's been assigned to help him. (FYI, there's no actual equine sex in this thing — just some nude barebacking.)
