When You're 21, You're No Fun

When electroclash reached the height of popularity circa 2001, there was perhaps no icon bigger than Ladytron. With hits such as "Seventeen" and "Playgirl," the Liverpool quartet had everyone dancing to icy beats aided by droned vocals. It's a formula that has also helped acts such as Mount Sims, Miss Kittin, and Felix Da Housecat achieve dance music success. But unlike those acts, Ladytron has been able to shed the electroclash label and remain as relevant as when it first began. Still, let's hope that when Ladytron keyboardist and singer Mira Aroyo takes over the decks at Electric Pickle this Saturday, she'll be able to bring back some of that turn-of-the-century music for her DJ set at Poplife. The Bulgarian native will be joined by resident DJs Aramis, Induce, Mike Deuce, and Benton.
