Sequined Vests and Missing Teeth

With Super Bowl XLIV drifting into history and the Miami Heat in the midst of a weeklong NBA All-Star break, South Florida sports fanatics are starved for any kind of live action. Still, it remains to be seen whether they'll actually pay to watch a hockey game. Of course, people will take free tickets, buy six beers, and pray for a third-period fight. But when it comes to shelling out real paper money, the Florida Panthers might as well be an all-male ice dancing revue.

So when the Cats face off against the Boston Bruins, expect the BankAtlantic Center (1 Panther Pkwy., Sunrise) to be at least one-third empty. The indifference is unfair because our hometown team has been valiantly thrashing through rivals in pursuit of the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot. There won't be any man-on-man silver samba this Saturday night, guaranteed.
