Not long after academics came up with what they thought was the be-all and end-all of why humans have sex, a South Florida poet and her co-author feverishly compiled 237 More Reasons to Have Sex. Um, as if we needed a reason other than it feels really good. Well, Denise Duhamel and Sandy McIntosh, the team behind this most recent compilation, think we need more convincing.
At just 36 pages, 237 More Reasons to Have Sex is a bit of foreplay or a quickie after a long day. It probes issues of intimacy, lust, money, and power the usual suspects in any made-for-TV movie in the form of a list poem. We particularly dig No. 151: "They told me: 'She's just using you! She's taking you for a ride!' And I answered: 'So what?'" Books & Books will host Duhamel and McIntosh this Saturday evening. It could be the perfect prelude to a hot Saturday night.
