Take it from someone who knows: There's absolutely no reason to waste four years of your life and a $30,000 student loan just to learn a few things about modern art. Instead, enroll at the Bass Museum for its Eight-Week Art School and earn your education over the course of a couple of months while spending no more than 70 bucks.

Running through March 16, the foreshortened semester features a series of lectures by guest speakers, including Susan McGuire, Silvia Karman Cubiñá, and Victor Zamudio Taylor. From one session to the next, you'll be bathed in knowledge about various arty topics, such as fauvism, Dada, Duchamp, cubism, abstract expressionism, minimalism, Warhol, and conceptual art. In other words, it's everything you need to sound smart at bookstores, art openings, and cocktail parties.
Tuesdays, 7-8 p.m. Starts: Jan. 26. Continues through March 16, 2010
