Every beat of your trans-fat-soaked heart causes your life to flash before your eyes, so do something that'll make sure your legacy lives longer than you. Share tales from the crypts of your mind ones about love for the Magic City, the time you tried to seek asylum from its oppressive summers, and most of all, why you will never leave.
StoryCorps Historias is partnering with WDNA-FM to put your story on tape and enter it into the Library of Congress's American Folklife Center archives. Theres even a chance the radio station will broadcast it.
The initiative has hit cities across the nation and is now inviting Miami's Hispanic residents to enter its mobile recording studio (parked at Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus). Blather about all the things your family and friends have heard a million times, and your story strands will be woven with the tales of others to create a collective fabric. For the recommended $25 donation, you'll be interviewed by a pro and will walk away with a CD of your recording plus the satisfaction that your oral history has been officially put on wax. You have until January 30 to get it done. Make a reservation by calling 800-850-4406 or visiting storycorps.org.
