Choir on Fire

From its birth eight years ago, local chamber choir Seraphic Fire has dedicated itself to investigating a remarkably wide swath of musical possibilities. Live, the group freely ranges from Latin to Jewish, sacred to secular, classical to pop. Meanwhile, on record, the choir has been just as dynamic with five eclectic albums — including the most recent, 2008’s Shalom/Pax — not to mention a featured spot on Shakira’s Billboard-busting disc Oral Fixation II.

Now, this Sunday, Seraphic Fire and its Firebird Orchestra will bring the rejuvenation of a new year to Temple Emanu-El with Earth, Wind, and Firebird, a performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s baroque masterpiece Four Seasons. In the hands of artistic director and founder Patrick Dupré Quigley, along with his virtuoso singers and musicians, take a trip through the winter, autumn, spring, and summer of Vivaldi’s Venice. And don’t hesitate — this will be the final show of a three-day mini-tour of South Florida.
