We Don't Care How Far

Every time I look at Propaganda's web site and see the drink specials and cheap prices, I want to crawl up inside it and stay. Unfortunately that's not an option, as I have to report to offices in the counties south of Palm Beach. But if you live in northern Broward or above, and have yet to make NYE plans, seriously consider the little Lake Worth "indie rock dive bar" that could. Thursday night offers, as you'd expect, a low-fuss, local-music way to ring in 2010. The line-up overall is kind of strange. You've got variations on hip-hop from Lake Worth's Speaking Volumes, Fort Lauderdale's Protoman, and Miami's DJ Heron (click here to read his previous New Times Head Spins profile). Then there's noodling indie-ish downtempo from Lake Worth's Franscene, and funky, reggae-ish rock from Boynton Beach's Trip Don't Fall. Honestly, the wildest card there is DJ Heron, who's usually playing hardcore hip-hop sets around Miami but hey, everybody needs a change of pace sometimes, I guess. Cover charge isn't listed anywhere but Propaganda is never more than $5 to $7 to get in, and Thursdays usually have a bazillian specials for drinks ranging from $1 to a whopping $3.50. (Yes, I, too, was fooled at first into believing unflinching round-buyers here were just very generous people.)
