For German-born guitarist Ottmar Liebert, music seems to have no barriers. An instrumentalist since his early teens, he was initially a rock ’n’ rolla, but after spending some time in Mexico and ultimately settling in Santa Fe, he embraced the genre known as nouveau flamenco, which mixes both traditional and contemporary musical elements. His 1990 debut CD was certified double-platinum and is still one of the biggest-selling guitar albums of all time, and this Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Gusman Center, you’ll get the chance to see the magic happen live and in person. He’ll be backed by his group, Luna Negra, which features bassist Jon Cagan filling the air with surprising grooves and arpeggios. Tickets cost $27.50 to $55.50.
Wed., Jan. 6, 8 p.m., 2010
