These Keys Play Music

If you thought a Russian piano player was a vodka-based cocktail served with a sharp turn of the wrist, a flat fist to the bar, and a garnish of black and white keys, you could be on to something. And you could also be overlooking Natasha Marin and Maria Demina, renowned Russian pianists who this Friday will rock the Ritz-Carlton South Beach with a concert by candlelight. Music of Russia, presented by the Ritz and the Center for Emerging Art, is a concert festival composed to transport the lovely sounds of civilized music to South Beach and subsequently your ears. Accompanying the live classical music will be the necessary accouterments of champagne and hors d’oeuvres. And this is just our own childish, wishful thinking, but perhaps Natasha Marin’s husband Cheech will accompany her, and then we can all meet up on the sand for a bonfire after the show. Just sayin’.

The evening begins with a cocktail reception at 6 and plays on until 9. Tickets cost $80, and valet parking is gratis. Call Lucia Gil at 786-276-4176 for reservations.
Fri., Dec. 18, 6 p.m., 2009
