Iconic Figures

Thanks to Dancing With the Stars and reality television (Who really thought a show about NFL player Terrell Owens was a good idea?), the line between the sports and entertainment worlds is a blurry one. That makes the “Icons of Sports and Entertainment” exhibit at Icon Art Images and Gallery a natural. Showcasing the works of Erika King, Bill Toma, and other artists, the gallery displays a variety of disciplines, from oil paintings and bronze sculptures to pop art and everything in between. “We have one room alone with over 50 different artworks on different people, hand-signed by the subjects, whether it’s Dan Marino or someone else,” says gallery owner Cash McMahon. The entertainment side spotlights pieces featuring legends such as Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley. So if you haven’t found that special something for the Dolphins, Heat, or Elvis fan in your life, maybe you can find a one-of-a-kind at Icon. The exhibit runs through December 30, and the gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
