The myth that Miami's music scene never dips below 120 beats per minute has been steadily eroding the past few years as acts like Rachel Goodrich and the Jacuzzi Boys have received national attention. But if you've just moved here and don't know your Churchill's from your Church's Chicken, or your Jazid from your Jesse Jackson, you probably haven't heard of acoustic duo Raffa and Rainer, one of the bedrock groups in the local music landscape.

Raffa and Rainer used to host a weekly open mic called "Can You Rock a Little Softer?" that gave a dedicated platform to unplugged artists. Rainer's inspired picking combined with Raffa's whip-smart lyrics and intoxicating voice led the movement by example, and it's good news that even though "Can You Rock a Little Softer?" has been on haitus, R&R themselves have been busy bees, recording long-awaited new material. The fruits of that labor will be revealed this Friday night at the Wynwood Social Club at the CD Release Party for their brand-new album titled "No Mercy." Entrance is ten bucks, but you might as well pay fifteen and get a copy of "No Mercy" thrown in because once you've heard them play, you'll be hooked.

For all the locals who are already fans, this write-up was probably really boring and obvious. Sorry. See you at the show.
