Art's Republic

Ever dreamed of a place where musicians, filmmakers, visual artists, and performance artists could congregate, cultivate fresh ideas, and share new ways of looking at the world? While getting drunk? Look no further. Welcome to Artopia, an eye-popping art event that would make Leonardo DaVinci, Sir Thomas More, Andy Warhol, and Lady Gaga proud. Brought to you by New Times and RushFlyers.com, Artopia will be sure to satisfy the hunger pangs of any starving artist (there’s complimentary drinks and hors d' oeuvres). The party will feature cutting-edge fashion design by Kayce Armstrong (check out her boutique, Art of Shade), the live sounds of Rock With U Entertainment, the sexy stylings of the Modernesque Burlesque troupe, the pulsing grooves of electro-popsters Kill Miss Pretty, and much more. On top of that, New Times will be presenting our first-ever MasterMind Awards, sponsored by the Amplitude Academy of Musical Arts, where four local artists will be awarded $1,000. Artopia will be hosted at Crobar at Exit 66 (219 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd.) on Saturday, November 14th at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20. Call 954-233-1587 or visit artopiabroward.com.
Sat., Nov. 14, 7 p.m., 2009
