Karma, it can be a bitch. Just ask author Alan Wieder. Or better yet, let Wieder tell you about it face to face this Saturday when he takes the stage at Books & Books to read from his debut book, Year of the Cock: The Remarkable True Account of a Married Man Who Left His Wife and Paid the Price (Grand Central, $23.99). Wieder’s success as a reality-TV show writer propels him to trade in his wife for a fast car and a shot at the Hollywood dating scene. But his heyday in the hen house falls flaccid when he realizes his penis just doesn’t measure up to his ego. Instead of strutting around La La Land, this rooster finds all he has left to crow about is this shriveled-up self-loathing adventure. His loss, however, is your literary gain. The free reading begins at 7 p.m.
