And if you think that means the usual daily crackhead productions, you’re mistaken. The Arsht Center and Broadway Across America want to turn your cultural calendar from a boring brown to The Color Purple. This Tuesday through November 1, catch the Tony Award-winning play based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker, the critically acclaimed film by Steven Spielberg, and — perhaps the (cough) highest honor — produced by Oprah Winfrey.

If prestigious awards and an endorsement from one of the world’s most influential women don’t get your butt in a theater seat, the incredible story will. Protagonist Celie is a woman who has been beaten down by the world and the men she has adored, but in the end, she finds her voice in a dramatic turnaround that can be described only as triumphant and well deserved. This Tuesday’s show begins at 8, and tickets range from $25 to $75.
