If Van Damme Could Cook

The chef’s knife pounces like a tiger in the kill zone. Blade meets flesh and then cuts through bone. It moves with the force of a cannon in the hands of an artilleryman. Legions of fans cheer wildly as a chop rings out steel’s song of war, and blood splatters into the crowd. A curvy blonde wipes crimson droplets from her cheek and seductively licks them off of her finger.

This ain’t your mama’s cooking competition; this is Iron Fork, and it’s a blood sport. Chefs John Critchley and Giancarla Bodoni will meet in the squared circle for head-to-hand culinary combat this Thursday at Bank of America Tower, where more than 40 restaurants will cater snacks while an open bar slings drinks and piano music swells to an epic crescendo before four celebrity judges honor one of these two chefs with the Iron Fork. Tickets cost $30 in advance, $40 at the door. The evening begins at 6.
