For the past 20 years, John Martin’s Restaurant and Irish Pub has served you karaoke on Wednesdays, a traditional Irish brunch on Sundays, and green beer on St. Patrick’s Day. And now, for its nearly legal birthday (officially September 21), it’s time to celebrate with the restaurant that brings the debauchery to the Gables every day of the week. In case you’ve missed the past week’s events, it’s not too late to show face and end your weekend with an open-mike night to end all open-mike nights. Beginning at 8:30 p.m., local talent will hit the stage to sing, rap, and wax poetic, all bringing out their best material to fete the old, faithful watering hole that serves the various elixirs that make their “talents” palatable. The top three winners will receive prizes, including free dinners, passes to the Actors’ Playhouse, and even a trip for two to Ireland.
