Melinda Lopezs drama, Sonia Flew, concerns a Cuban-American mother whose son has decided to enlist in the Army in order to fight in Afghanistan. By getting in touch with her anger over her sons decision, the mother realizes she has an unfinished beef with her own parents, and its not going to be solved over one medianoche. The play is directed by FIU faculty member Jennifer Smith De Castroverde and performed, stage-designed, and lit entirely by FIU students inside the Wertheim Performing Arts Center. Tickets cost $12, or $8 for students, alumni, faculty/staff, and seniors. All showtimes are 7 p.m., except Sundays (2 p.m.).
