Imagine yourself in the courtyard of Books & Books in Coral Gables as the moon reflects off your glass of Pinot Grigio. You’re listening to Aaron Lebos’s guitar hovering above an upright bass and drums. You want to dance, but the waiter brings you a turkey sandwich with mango-chutney butter, and you’re so full you can’t imagine standing up. Lucky for you, there’s no need to go anywhere.

This Friday from 7 to 11 p.m., browse books, sip coffee, and digest while listening to Miami trio Jazzilla. The funk and abstraction of Bitches’ Brew, the rim shots of Philly Joe Jones, and the intricate riffs of Wes Montgomery are all influences Jazzilla hopes you’ll hear. They play everything from jazz fusion to straight-ahead standards, with no commercial aspirations, so expect to hear freedom in their music. As always at Books & Books, the show is free.
