Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Texas hold ’em poker. Key West. Tattoo contest. Bikini show. Pool party. Bloody mary brunch. Diabetes. Seven of these things are fun, and one of them sucks. But thanks to the good people at Phil Peterson’s Harley-Davidson of Miami (19400 NW Second Ave., Miami) and Phil Peterson’s Harley-Davidson South (19825 S. Dixie Hwy., Cutler Bay), you can do the first seven and help eradicate the evil eighth when you sign up at either Peterson’s location for the 37th annual Key West Poker Run.

The event will officially begin this Thursday night with a “bar stroll” along upper Duval Street. But the riders will wait for 8 a.m. Friday, when they’ll make the trip from Miami to Key West, stopping at five pre-selected locations to collect cards for their poker hands. The first hand, included in registration, costs ten bucks, but you can buy as many hands as you want for ten dollars each, and all the proceeds will go to the Diabetes Research Institute. The owners of the best ten hands will automatically be entered in Saturday night’s hold ’em finalist tournament at Guy Harvey’s Island Grill (511 Greene St., Key West). The prize: a brand-new custom Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster. The weekend concludes with a bloody mary brunch on Sunday, and trust us, you’ll need the liquor rejuvenation. Call 305-651-4811 or register online at petersonskeywestpokerrun.com.
