They say the Burger Beast is eight-foot-two and can down a ten-pound patty in a single bite. Unidentified witnesses have seen him walk through Kendall, pick up a cow by the tail, wrap it in a Holsum bread truck, and eat it for a snack. Legend has it he's gobbled up so many burgers he sweats ketchup and his teeth have enough charred meat between 'em to feed New Jersey, twice.

But we remember when he was just Sef Gonzalez, Metro PCS employee, before he started the Burger Beast blog and became famous for highlighting good food for the everyday man and woman. Now the blog is so successful it's spawned the first annual BurgerBeast.com Burgie Awards, going down this Monday at John Martin's Irish Pub and Restaurant. Beginning at 8 p.m., respected judges (including Yelp's Maria Argüello and yours truly) will give away "Burgies" for best pizza, the best frita, and yes, best burger.
