Permission to Go Mad

Some shows on the boob tube will suck you dry, leaving your brain with no sign of function or creativity. Others are so good they make you want to quit your job and be a full-time resident of your living room couch. Mad Men is one of the latter. This AMC program (way too awesome to be called a simple "show") has inspired a resurgence of '60s fashion and culture. Hopefully, it's also made a few corporations rethink their policies on in-office smoking and drinking. Of course, the crazy kids of Mad Men work at a fictional ad agency, and you, well, you work somewhere real and it's probably not as cool as Sterling Cooper. But once a week at the Mayfair Hotel's Lobby Bar, you can sure act like it is. Mad Men Mondays takes on the spirit of your favorite televised guilty pleasure in the forms of Rob Roys, Tom Collinses, and Harvey Wallbangers, which all go for $3.50 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The mood will be set by the music of the time (and modern retakes), Mad Men episodes on the big screen, and you doing the funky watusi.
Mondays, 5:30 p.m., 2009
