Mama Said Knock Someone Out

Some people say it feels like a ton of bricks; others compare it to the smack of a Mack truck. But we at New Times have never had the pleasure of a fist to the face, so we have no clue what it feels like. (A kick in the pants is another story — we're pros at that.) At this Friday's championship doubleheader at the Hard Rock Live, Juan Urango will duke it out with Randall Bailey for the IBF junior welterweight title, and Clinton Woods and the undefeated Tavoris Cloud will go balls out to see who will win the IBF light heavyweight title. Faces will be punched, six-packs will be pummeled, and oh yes, there will certainly be a few of those kidney shots Dad told us to use if a bitch ever got out of line. But unlike you in that bar-to-alley brawl last weekend, these guys know how to take a punch, and for the very last Friday Night Fights of the season, they'll do it for you from 7 p.m. until the final round or the last man standing. Tickets start at $50 and are available at ticketmaster.com.
Fri., Aug. 28, 7 p.m., 2009
