Great Scot

If you listen to the radio, you might have heard the voice of Paolo Nutini. Hits such as "New Shoes" and "Last Request" have been getting regular airplay, and at 22 years old, Nutini is Atlantic Records' new boy wonder. He has already shared the stage with the Rolling Stones, Herbie Hancock, and Led Zeppelin and headlined hallowed venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Montreaux Jazz Festival. Now you can add the intimate confines of the Culture Room to that list. This Monday at 7:30 p.m., Nutini will make a single South Florida appearance to showcase his new album, Sunny Side Up. You'll hear a plethora of influences — Cab Calloway, Django Reinhardt, Ray LaMontagne — as Nutini swings through everything from ragtime to the joyous folk sing-along. And it all echoes his modest upbringing outside Paisley, Scotland. It's safe to say he'll dip into the heart-tearing crooning that's made him so popular.
