Strictly for the Ladies

When Victor Margueritte released his 1932 novel, La Garçonne, a story about a girl who chose a life of free love after being duped by a cheating fiancée, the public balked at the lesbian themes in the story. The thought of a woman having multiple sex partners — both male and female — was absolutely scandalous in Margueritte’s time, but the public drank it up, wanting to know more about the girl with the balls to live life according to her own rules. Lynn Bove of Siren and Icandee Events is no scorned French girl, but for the past ten years, she’s definitely been living life according to Lynn and throwing the most awesome all-girl parties this side of The L Word. And this Saturday, she will celebrate Icandee's 10th anniversary with a fete fit for a king, er, queen.

“It's definitely going to be a special night for me, but I also wanted the guests to feel like royalty as well. Without so many wonderful friends and supporters around me, I would not have been able to make it this far,” Bove says. So she’ll take over Design District hot spot the King Is Dead and bring along elaborately adorned ladies in waiting — DJs Citizen Jane, Dezrock, and Cristi — plus, of course, some sexy surprises.
