Don’t Sweat the Thunder

Despite their recent 5-0 loss to Mexico, the U.S. soccer team is surging. In July, they defeated World Cup champion Spain, stopping the squad one victory short of setting a new record for consecutive unbeaten matches by an international team. Then two days later, they took Brazil down to the wire, thanks to a resurgent offense led by Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore.

Now it’s time to get that U.S. soccer support groundswell going by checking out our local squad, Miami FC, as it takes on the Minnesota Thunder this Friday at 8 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium. The United Soccer League is a breeding ground for the National Team, so the young striker who scores against the Thunder could be the same guy who scores the game winner the next time the U.S. plays Brazil.
