Remember when there was an understanding that if an actor’s career crossed the hills into the San Fernando Valley, she was done as a serious actress? My, how things have changed.
Sasha Grey, the 21-year-old porn star who calls herself a “sexual athlete,” has made the opposite leap — out of the never-never-land of handheld Hi8 and into the Hollywood Panavision of Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience. And if she can pull off her role as Chelsea, a high-priced escort in 2008 New York City, you can bet the offers will be coming in like... well, maybe we better not say. The film plays twice Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at local art-house theater Miami Beach Cinematheque. Tickets for the 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. shows cost ten dollars.
