Knuckin’ and Buckin’ Against Brazil

You ever see a South American get tossed over a fence in less than eight seconds? Well, ICE ain’t the only game in town that’s trying to buck Brazilians. That’s right, y’all, it’s time for the 11th annual International Bullriding Bash at Davie Arena.

Get ready for a Brazil vs. United States battle that’ll have 5,000 fans hootin’ and hollerin’ like they squatted in a briar patch. Contest organizer Joana Bueno says that in Brazil, bull riding is bigger than soccer. “We have the story of some very poor cowboys coming here from Brazil with nothing and then winning millions of dollars as champion bull riders,” she says. “People get really excited; they bring their flags and their samba gear. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.” Bueno also says the event will feature bands playing until midnight and more kinds of food than there are styles of Brazilian bikinis. Gates open at 6 p.m. Admission is $15; kids 10 and younger get in free.
