All That Glitters Is Glass

This Sunday is the last day of “Convergence,” 50 glass, jewelry, and lamp-work art pieces based on the elements — air, fire, water, and earth. The International Society of Glass Beadmakers (ISGB) invited artisans from around the world to participate in this juried exhibition and to use materials such as seed beads, metals, glass, and semiprecious fibers to illustrate the Earth’s most basic forces.

Since the exhibit began July 4, many visitors have ogled the pieces; some have shelled out dough to own them, and from noon to 9 p.m., you can witness the beauty yourself at the Windish-Hunt Gallery. Whatever hasn’t been purchased will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting ISGB educational programs and the Craft Emergency Relief Fund. Admission is free.
Sun., July 26, noon, 2009
