As Noah Lennox and his Animal Collective cohorts have proven, 50s harmonizing is back. But, hey, for those who lived them, those soulful tunes never went out of style, did they?
The musical comedy Forever Plaidtakes that theme and runs with it, imagining a foursome of clean-cut boys who of course dress in matching plaid jackets being tragically killed at the cusp of fame when their car collides with a bus full of Catholic schoolgirls. By the grace of God or Ed Sullivan, they get one more chance to play before that final big gig in the sky. The show has been performed over and over around the world since its off-Broadway debut in 1990, and this Thursday, the original cast will perform a one-night-only reunion show that will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. at three area movie theaters: Regal Cinemas South Beach; Regal Movies at the Falls 12 (9000 SW 136th St., Palmetto Bay); and AMC Theatres Aventura Mall 24 (19501 Biscayne Blvd., Aventura). The song list is pure nostalgia and will have you singing along in your seat literally. At the end of the show, there will be an interactive sing-along, with a live appearance by the Plaids.
