Don’t let the psychedelic colors fool you — Joey Mugica (also known as the Color Queen) is not another Miami loon trying to force-feed his quirky art to the masses. His antics (not his art, but his “Target Therapy” excursions; YouTube it) landed him on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and his personalized creations have earned him a Facebook following that your tween sister would omg d-i-e to have. This Friday’s show is an extension of Coral Gables’ gallery night and of the digital designs Mugica is known for. “I have created an online digital salon where my friends send in their photos and I re-create them into works of art using several mediums,” he explains. “The idea behind my art form is one of personal rebirth, giving an old photograph a new renaissance, purpose, and new life in vivid colors.” From 7 p.m. to midnight, he’ll turn Victoria’s Designs into a photo studio, capturing flicks and giving you the Color Queen treatment. RSVP is required to the phone number above.
