Pride Seder

Who says Seders are just for Passover? Temple Israel, that rowdy congregation of gay-lovin’ Jews, will hold its annual Pride Seder this Wednesday night in honor of Gay Pride Month. Attendees of the Pride Seder are invited to share stories of suffering hardship, all in a GLBT-friendly environment more warm and welcoming than a bowl of your bubbe’s matzo ball soup. And remember, these are Jews we’re talking about. They can lay on the hardship pretty thick.

Technically, a Seder is a family meal held the first Friday night of Passover to honor the Jewish slaves who escaped from Egypt and to give thanks to the idea of liberation. We’re guessing the Haggadah doesn’t say anything about men “liberating” themselves by putting on fake boobs and a pair of size 12 heels, but the concept applies nevertheless. Question: Is this the time to break out that sparkly yarmulke? We think yes. The big event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a little “Holy Schmoozing,” and then the actual Seder starts at 6.
