Last November Tries Transit

Atlanta-based trio Last November plays two gigs in South Florida this weekend, hitting an early all-ages gig tomorrow night at Respectable Street Cafe in West Palm Beach, and then Transit Lounge in Miami on Friday. The group first got together in high school, when they bonded over playing acoustic versions of songs from Brand New's album Deja Entendu -- awwww. The influence has carried over -- Last November's own latter-day material is marked by a particular bittersweet nostalgia for the present. Not that it's all a mopey trip. The threesome, helmed by guitarist/frontman Luke Pilgrim, is as celebratory as it is introspective, with harder-rocking songs as caffeinated and perky as a double espresso. With heavy airplay on Atlanta radio, and recent features on AOL RED (AOL's teen portal), the band could be ready for heavy Fuse rotation soon. If upbeat power pop is your thing, check out this band in West Palm Beach on Thursday or Miami on Friday.
